The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Debuts, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Beloved Titles
Similar to the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
