A ranking policeman who rushed to the assistance of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a blade-wielder was granted the Royal Recognition for Courage.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown after he held a weapon to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a road collision in that location in summer 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.
